1. Federal government challenges Nigerian Scientist to find cure for Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The Federal government of Nigeria today challenged Nigerian scientists to find solution to the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19) currently threatening the world.

The challenge was thrown open by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, who went ahead to pledge the sum of N36 million for any Nigerian Scientist that will find the solution/cure to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
“I am challenging our scientists On behalf of the Ministry, I am pledging the sum of N36million for any Nigerian scientist that finds solution to Coronavirus. “We will not go to bed or rest until solution is found to this disease,” he said.
2. Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) gets new uniform
The Federal Government on February 13, 2020 approved new uniform for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to reflect its new name.
NCoS Comptroller General (CG), Mr Ja’afaru Ahmed disclosed this at the inauguration of the administrative block of the Correctional Staff School (CSS) on Thursday in Abuja.
This development is backed by the new act of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NIS) now Correctional Service which President Bihari signed into law on July 31, 2019.
3. A 16-year old student wins InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition
A 16-year-old student of Jesuit Memorial College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, by name Oyindamola Aje, has emerged winner of the second edition of the InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition held in Lagos.
Aje defeated eight other finalists in an intense quiz session to win the grand prize of N7.5 million worth of tertiary education scholarship which will spread over five years. In addition to the money, he also went away with a laptop and a monthly stipend for the duration of the scholarship fund.
4. Nigeria and Ethiopia signs a pact on visa waiver for diplomatic and official passport holders.
Nigeria and Ethiopia on February 11, 2020 signed a pact on visa waiver for diplomatic and official passport holders. The signing was done at Addis Ababa with President Muhammadu Buhari and his counterpart Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries Geoffrey Onyeama, and Gedu Andargachew witnessed the signing.
Both leaders had earlier discussed on new areas of collaboration to enhance existing ties between the two nations.
According to the presidency, the waiver is to ease official travels and strengthen bilateral relations as well as defense cooperation to engender coordinated efforts in the fight against terrorism and promote peace and stability in Africa.
It also revealed that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) is also to enhance bilateral military exchanges in the areas of training and education, technical assistance, visits and technology transfer.
Both countries equally consented to swift conclusion of talks on their revised Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) and cultural cooperation.
